Flying men… and dogs on the waterfront

Posted on June 19, 2014 in Blog, Festivals

Have you seen the Iron Man-esque sport Flyboarding? On June 20 to 22 on Toronto’s waterfront the world championships of Flyboarding are taking place. It is part of the Redpath Waterfront Festival Toronto.

On the waterfront from Sherbourne to Spadina the Waterfront Festival will have fun for every age and species. OK this one is new to us too! DockDogs will be competing. DockDogs is a dock diving and dock jumping sport for dogs with three main events: Big Air, Extreme Vertical and Speed Retrieve. You can try out your own canine companion’s skills after the main events.

There will be a Kids Zone featuring the Parks Canada mascot and a giant inflatable beaver and bouncing rides. Kids can visit a Voyageur Encampment and take a guided voyageur canoe ride in the harbour. They can talk with real-live sailors and tour the ships from the Toronto Brigantine sail training vessels and on Saturday they can watch demonstrations from the Toronto Fire Services and Toronto Police Marine Unit.

Not so much for kids is the Toronto Wine and Spirit Festival portion of Waterfest 2014 taking place at Sugar Beach. As always with Toronto we are proud to say that there will be a huge welcome for Pride participants on Sunday at Sugar Beach.
