The bead goes on

I wish I was a jewellery maker or into beading because I would have found heaven already. Working on our guide to the coolest area of Toronto we started at Spadina and headed west on Queen Street. The hippest and most interesting area is west of Bathurst but the first section of Queen between Spadina and Bathurst is the setting for a high concentration of beading and jewellery supply stores. I wandered into three or four in quick succession which were interesting and jam packed with huge selections but then I happened upon The Beadery at 446 Queen Street West.

The moment you walk into the wood lined shop you can tell this isn’t any ordinary bead shop. Handmade wood cabinets display the owner’s jewellery line which is organic in nature and stunning. Lining the front of the shop is a huge selection of unique beads most of which are wood and hand dyed with beautiful soft colours.
